Introduction
FirstSet is an iOS app from Cold Harbor Studio LLC (“Cold Harbor Studio,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how the FirstSet iOS app handles information when you use it.
Summary
- No FirstSet account is required.
- Workout and app data is stored on your device and, in an iCloud-enabled production build, eligible records may sync through your private iCloud account.
- Apple Health access is optional. FirstSet requests read access only to active energy burned and basal, or resting, energy burned.
- Apple Health information is used to show active, resting, and total calorie information to you.
- FirstSet does not use HealthKit information for advertising or marketing and does not sell personal or health information.
- FirstSet does not include advertising, third-party analytics, or third-party crash-reporting SDKs.
- Exercise form videos open through third-party services such as YouTube.
- We receive support information only if you choose to contact Cold Harbor Studio.
Workout and app data
FirstSet may store information such as:
- workout sessions, dates, names, status, and progress
- completed sets and exercise completion state
- exercise names and identifiers
- weight and repetition logs
- notes and effort or form feedback
- rest-time preferences and notification settings
- unit preferences and beginner safety settings
- workout history and inputs used to produce weight suggestions
- other FirstSet app settings
These records are stored using Apple’s on-device persistence technology. Workout sessions, exercise state, set logs, and FirstSet settings are eligible for private CloudKit synchronization in the iCloud-enabled production build. Device-level notification authorization, pending local notifications, and FirstSet’s local record of whether Apple Health access was previously requested are not stored in the CloudKit-backed workout models.
iCloud and CloudKit
The iCloud-enabled production build uses Apple iCloud and CloudKit to sync eligible FirstSet records through the private CloudKit database associated with your iCloud account. Cold Harbor Studio does not operate a separate FirstSet account system or public workout database.
Sync, availability, and restoration depend on your iCloud account, device settings, network connection, and Apple’s services. When CloudKit is temporarily unavailable, FirstSet may continue saving workout data locally and retry synchronization later. Deleting or resetting synced data in FirstSet may propagate to other devices connected to the same private iCloud store.
Apple Health and HealthKit
Apple Health access is optional and controlled by you. FirstSet currently requests read access to exactly these HealthKit data types:
- Active Energy Burned
- Basal Energy Burned, shown in FirstSet as resting calories
FirstSet reads permitted values to calculate and display active, resting, and total calories for the date range you select. The current implementation does not write information to Apple Health.
FirstSet does not use HealthKit information for advertising, marketing, profiling, or data mining and does not sell HealthKit data. Raw HealthKit samples and FirstSet’s calculated calorie summaries are not saved in the CloudKit-backed workout store.
You can manage FirstSet’s Health permissions in the Apple Health app or iOS Settings. To protect privacy, HealthKit may return no data without telling an app whether read permission was denied.
Notifications and Live Activities
If enabled, rest reminders use local notifications scheduled on your device. Rest Timer Live Activities may show workout and timer details on the Lock Screen or Dynamic Island on supported iPhones. You can manage notification and Live Activity behavior in FirstSet and device settings. FirstSet does not use these features for advertising.
External video links
Exercise form links may open YouTube or another third-party website or app. Those providers may collect information under their own privacy policies and terms. Cold Harbor Studio does not control their availability or data practices.
Support communications
If you email support, Cold Harbor Studio receives the information you voluntarily provide, including your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to include. Please avoid sending sensitive health information in support messages.
How information is used
FirstSet and Cold Harbor Studio use information as needed to:

- sync eligible workout records and settings through private iCloud
- produce progress summaries and conservative weight suggestions
- display Apple Health information you permit FirstSet to read

Data sharing and third parties
Verified services used by FirstSet include:
- Apple iCloud and CloudKit for private synchronization of eligible FirstSet records.
- Apple Health and HealthKit for optional, read-only calorie information.
- Apple notification and Live Activity services for device reminders and rest-timer presentation.
- YouTube and external video providers when you choose to open a form video.
- Your email provider and ours when you contact support.
FirstSet does not sell personal information or health information. FirstSet does not include advertising, third-party analytics, or third-party crash-reporting SDKs.
Retention and deletion
Local FirstSet data generally remains until you reset or delete it through supported controls or remove the app. Cloud-synced workout data may remain in your private iCloud store until it is deleted through supported FirstSet or iCloud controls, and deletions may need time to synchronize.
Apple Health permissions can be revoked in the Health app or iOS Settings. Support emails may be retained for as long as reasonably needed to answer requests, keep ordinary business records, and meet legal obligations. Contact us with privacy questions.
Your choices
- Enable or decline optional Apple Health access.
- Manage or revoke FirstSet Health permissions in the Health app or iOS Settings.
- Enable or disable rest notifications and Live Activities in FirstSet and device settings.
- Reset today’s workout or all workout progress using FirstSet’s available controls.
- Manage your iCloud account and iCloud availability in iOS Settings.
- Delete FirstSet from your device.
- Contact support with privacy or deletion questions.
Apple limits what an app can learn about denied HealthKit read access, so FirstSet may show no calorie data without being able to identify the specific permission state.
Children’s Privacy
FirstSet is not directed to children under 13, and Cold Harbor Studio does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. If you believe a child has provided information through a support channel, contact us so we can review the request.
International Users
Apple services and external video providers may process information in countries other than your own according to their policies. If you contact Cold Harbor Studio from outside the United States, your support communication will be processed in the United States.
Security
FirstSet relies on iOS, app sandboxing, and Apple’s private CloudKit infrastructure to help protect app records. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy as FirstSet changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective or last-updated date.
